@Peter: I always notice the drum production on Frank's albums. The drum sound on Teenager of the Year is especially interesting, although it can be a little much sometimes.

Every album the Pixies did had a fascinating style of drum production, and each one was different. Likewise Frank Black's self-titled album and Teenager of the Year both have great, unique drum production. I didn't care for the drum sound on Cult of Ray too much. Then it seems like with the first Catholics album he settled into a habit of very realistic-sounding drums (which I love). What are your thoughts, Peter?

The first time I listen to it back on 1994, I thought it WAS ALREADY THE BEST ALBUM OF THE 90's.
The whole range of compositions -22 gemes-, the arrengements, the singing, the guitars of Lyle Workman and the production (even if it has not been mastered for the taste of the mass public and it was a limited-budget production) is ahead of its time.

Now I think it is PROBABLY THE BEST ALBUM OF the 20th Cerntury.

If I could take one and only one album to a desert island, this would be THE ONE.

I'd be hard pressed to single out one album as my favorite (sort of like saying who the best guitarist in the world, or the best anything in the world, is). But is one of my favorites for sure. I will say that I listened to it at least once a day for over two years, and still listen to it quite often. Of course there is so much to hear these days with so many albums out. I've always thought of it as a sort of "White Album" too. Big, sprawling, so various in tone and subject. By the way, how do you post to discussions? I'm more than a little challenged in the technical dept.

My favourite Frank Black album. It's his White Album

Teenager of the Year has some of the most unique songs Frank ever wrote. Nobody else but him could have written "The Hostess With the Mostest" or "Pure Denizen of the Citizen's Band."

Bummer. I've heard Frank himself actually likes having his lyrics available for his fans.

I put all the lyrics, a tracklist, and tabs on here and they disappeared! How did this happen? :(
